Suspending takes effect within about an hour: the desktop app re-checks every 24 hours normally, but every hour once it has been told it is suspended. Revoking is the permanent form of the same thing.

Expired does not stop the app. The client treats it as still-entitled and only shows a nag, which is deliberate — a billing edge case should never take away work in progress. Use suspend when you actually mean to cut access.
